- Abstract
- On the basis of a study of historical and iconographical documents, an attempt is made to reconstruct the pig breed which was formerly raised in the oak forests of the Vaucluse highlands. It appears to have been the result of an introgression involving «iberic» and «celtic» pigs. A study is also made of the impact of this type of pig breeding on the landscape and of the reasons for which it was replaced by sheep and goat raising, which greatly transformed this landscape. Observations are also made on the place occupied by the pig in local folklore.
